The blight that was the old Texaco Station at the corner of Washington Avenue and Route 112 in Port Jefferson Station is no more, and in it's place is a brand new Hess Express.
The Texaco building, which had become a spot for graffiti and other vandalism, was demolished in January about 15 months after the Brookhaven Town Planning Board approved the plan. The project was supported by many in the area who preferred a clean looking gas station to the sore sight the Texaco had left.
The Hess station officially opened May 24.
