Learn About Maple Sugaring At Local Farm

Take part in creating your own maple sap from scratch in February to eat with your pancakes at a special dinner for residents at Benner's Farm.

On Feb. 22, Benner's Farm will be hosting its Winter Homestead event teaching locals how to collect sap, boil it down, and create maple syrup. All phases of the Maple Sugaring will be demonstrated at the farms working homestead.

"Visit our animals, help gather sap into the woods, see how the trees are tapped, what kind they are and how to tell them from other trees in our Long Island Woods," said a representative from Benner's Farm. "Stand in front of the warm fire where the gallons of sap are boiled down to produce the wonderful sweet, syrup we all enjoy."

Benner's Farm said all attendees would be able to enjoy their hard work with a pancake breakfast services with maple sugar.

Admission for the day will be $7.00 for adults and $6.00 for seniors and children under the age of 12. All proceeds from the event will go directly to Homestead Arts Inc. a not-for-profit organization that was created to help raise awareness and interested in the importance of homesteading.
