New Spanish Grill to Take Over Former Costa de Espana Site

Plans are being drawn up for an autumn opening.

While many will argue that nothing can take the place of , which , a couple of locals with restaurant restoration experience are going to try, according to someone with knowledge of the new plans for the former site of the Spanish restaurant.

If you drive into Traders Cove, a collection of businesses surrounding the parking lot between East Main and Main Street on Arden Place, you’ll see the new banner unfurled over to the old Costa de Espana sign that reads: Coming Soon. La Parilla, A Spanish/American Grill.

Plans are being drawn up for submission to the Port Jefferson village building department. The new design is supposed to include upgrades to the bar area and floor plan among other changes. The owners are optimistically planning to open sometime this fall.

Bravo. More restaurants and less bars and bikers in PJ!

I agree to more restaurants and less bars, but leave the bikers alone. I don't know anyone who has every had a problem with them. I prefer the brief growl of a passing Harley than dealing with drunk Tapout-wearing, typical LI/wannabe Jersey Shore a--holes screaming, fighting, and/or puking in the middle of the street outside of those sh-t bars Billie's and Tommy's.

Let's hope they upgrade the food. Went there once twenty years ago and then again 2 years ago. Expensive ,cramped quarters, and exceedingly fair food.

You should try it now. The whole place is totally renovated. We went there last week and the place looked great and the food was fantastic. I agree with you about Costa De Espana it definitely went down hill in the last 2 yrs. We used to love the food. My wife is cuban and she was disappointed the way Costa declined but was very impressed with LaParrilla . We will be going there a lot more.
