PHOTO: Kinkade Gallery Brings "A Christmas Story" to Port Jefferson

Replica set piece from classic movie on display in Thomas Kinkade Gallery not for sale but painting of the movie can be bought.

Of all the unusual Christmas gifts you can find in the village of Port Jefferson, the Thomas Kinkade Gallery offers one of the quirkiest or one of the best, depending on how much of a fan you really are of the movie that made the phrase "you'll shoot your eye out" part of American pop culture.

In the window is a small replica of the leg lamp given to Ralphie's father as a "major award" in the classic A Christmas Story.

You can't buy the lamp - which according to Linda McLoone, director of the gallery, is only a decoration - but you can pick up a painting by Thomas Kinkade Studio that depicts various scenes from the movie.

"Everything about the movie is incorporated into the painting," said McLoone.

There are three sizes available. The large is priced at $1,840. A medium painting will cost you $1,160 and the small version is $910. All of the paintings come framed and are collectible, signed and numbered.

The actual lamp in the window was purchased online by McLoone as a gift for her husband. It's one of the couple's favorite movies.

We hope Mr. McLoone isn't reading Patch before Christmas.
