PJ Cinemas Announces Increase in Movie Ticket Prices

New ticket prices, however, are still among the lowest in the region.

The management at PJ Cinemas in Port Jefferson Station recently announced a 50 cent price, which it said on its website was slated to go into effect March 22.

Through Sunday evening, a statement on the theater's website read: "We regret this increase, our first one in almost eight years. Thank you for your continued patronage."

With the price increase, PJ Cinemas now charges admission as follows:

  • adults – $9
  • matinees (before 6 p.m.) – $5.50
  • children (12 and under) – $5.50
  • seniors (60 and over) – $5.50

The prices are still among the lowest in the region, however; nearby AMC Loews Stony Brook charges $11.50 for adults, $10.50 for seniors, $8.50 for kids, and $6 for matinees (before noon only).

The movie theater's management did not return a request for comment from Patch via phone and email.

Still a bargain!....50 cents can't even cover the increases in expenses in all these years...they deserve it....

My favorite theatre because I don't have to take out a second mortgage to bring my kids to see the latest film. So what if the seats are a bit snug on my butt? I take comfort in patronizing a family who is always giving back to the community via local fundraising activities.

IJoan...have you tried the Pine Cinemas?....They are super cushy seats with armrests that actually move up and out of the way...You can almost lay down watching a movie there!...
