Portrait Photographer Goes To The Dogs

Photographer Joseph Cubiotti donated a free pet portrait session at the Yorkie 911 Rescue adoption event to help raise money for the organization.

In December, held an adoption event at in Port Jefferson to help promote their organization and find new families for homeless pets. A number of prizes were donated and raffled off to visitors, including a free pet portrait session from Long Island Pet Portraits, photographer Joseph Cubiotti new photography business that gives families the opportunity to include their pets in family photo sessions.

“Generally, the family dog or cat is left at home when everyone heads out to the nearest portrait studio for the family portrait,” Cubiotti said.

But for many people, a pet is just as important as anybody else in the family. So Long Island Pet Portraits will shoot a portrait at almost any location on Long Island that the family wants, including in their own home, where the pet may feel most comfortable.

“The goal of every session is to photograph the true personality of everybody in the shoot, including the genuine nature of each pet,” said Cubiotti.

People love their pets. A during Port Jefferson's brought hundreds of dog lovers to the streets of Port Jefferson. Since then, Cubiotti said that he’s done dozens of family photographs to pet-loving residents throughout Port Jefferson.

“My new puppy Harley is pretty active so the idea of bringing him to a studio to be photographed was daunting,” said Lynn, a Port Jefferson resident. “I knew that he would never sit still under all of the lights and equipment they typically use. I scheduled the session and the photographer came right to my house.”
