Retail Tire Shop Joins Auto Strip in Port Jefferson Station

America's Discount Tire looks to separate itself from the pack.

When Dano's Auto Clinic moved to the south side of Route 347 last summer, it left an opening at their long time location at 109 Route 112 in Port Jefferson Station.

Tammy Tings, whose father John has owned an auto shop for 30 years in Bay Shore, used to work in the area and when passing by, she stumbled accross the building, told her dad and the wheels were in motion from there for America's Discount Tire, which she and her father opened on Dec. 12.

"This is my first time in the auto industry really," she said. "I guess why not jump on the bandwagon with my parents? It’s worked for them."

With a plethora of auto stops on Route 112, Tings hopes that buying directly from manufacturers and having three warehouses with basically any make and model available will separate them from the pack.

"Since we opened business has been steady," Tings said. "We have three warehouses on Long Island so we can go anywhere and they are all going to have any need, any make."

While their shop in Bay Shore is more commercial, this shop is retail and commercial. Down the line, they plan on doing oil changes and basic maintenance.
