Schafer's Wins Our Readers' Choice This Week

Port Jefferson Patch readers have decided the winner of Port Jefferson's favorite seafood restaurant is

Readers’ Choice is a weekly feature where we ask you – our readers – to tell us your top picks. Each Monday we’ll list our nominees – – and ask for your recommendation.

This week was the fiercest competition of all our Readers' Choice polls so far. Schafer's and were both ahead early on and they were close most of the week until Schafer's fans pulled off a win by the end of the week.

Everyone had their reasons for voting. Some loved Schafer's food.

"Schafer's food is absolutely amazing," commented . "If you haven't been you're missing out!"

Danford's fans were unanimous in their love for their new chef.

"Danford's is an incredible restaurant since the new chef arrived last summer," said "The food is outstanding and service is excellent."

"Danfords is as good as the finest Manahattan restaurants," commented.

Ed Cosgrove credited Danford's chef for his "creative new menu and out of the box thinking" on Facebook.

"However," Cosgrove said. "Schafer's has awesome mussels."

When someone else commented that Danford's was a staple of Port Jefferson, Kelly Mcgough said it was more than that.

"Danford's is not a staple anymore," Mcgough said. "They have a new chef, , who is bringing culinary genius to Port Jefferson."

Ultimately Schafer's was the winner of our poll and commenters also gave them the thumbs up.

"Schafer's is the best," said in the comments. "I have been upstairs and on the main level, and wherever we dine we have the best time! Seafood is fresh and service is always friendly!"
