Two Summer Brews On Tap at Port Jeff Brewery

Port Jeff Brewing Company puts two lighter, sweeter beers on tap.

The first official day of summer has lighter, sweeter beers flowing at the Port Jeff Brewing Company.

Step up to the bar to taste a White's Beach Wit and and the Port Jeff Barquentine Belgian Pale Ale recently added to the craft beer tasting room for the summer months.

"They are both on the lighter, sweeter side," said a bartender. "The Belgian Pale Ale is the most accessible for people.

White's Beach Wit - named for a popular summer destination - is a light-bodied beer with hints of orange and coriander. It is 5.4 percent alcohol by volume.

The Port Jeff Barquentine Belgian Pale Ale is a twist on the brewery's Schooner Ale fermented with Belgian yeast for a drier taste. It is 8 percent alcohol by volume.

Both beers are $8 for a 32-ounce growler or $15 for a 64-ounce growler. Then, of course, there's always the option to taste your beer of choice for $5.
