Woodhaven Owner Proposes New Sewage Plant

Proposed sewage treatment plant to serve Woodhaven Center of Care, surrounding region.

A Port Jefferson Station business owner is proposing to turn a sticky situation into an opportunity for economic growth along Route 112.

Ken Gaul, owner of Woodhaven Center of Care, has proposed plans to construct a sewage treatment plant that could handle 250,000 gallons of waste a day - enough for his nursing home, his assisted living facility and new businesses, reports The Port Times Record.

Gaul received an order from New York State Department of Environmental Conservation to replace the center's 40-year-old sewage treatment plant last year. As result, he's laid out plans to build a $9 million plant in hopes of supporting other economic development.
Plans for the new plans were presented to Brookhaven town officials during May 30 work session.
