Cash Only on the LIRR Saturday Afternoon

Railroad says computer upgrade will mean no cards at windows, machines.

Riders on the Long Island Rail Road will have to use cash at the Port Jefferson station between 2 and 4 p.m. Saturday.

A computer upgrade will knock out card transactions at both windows and machines, the LIRR said.

In addition, certain stations such as Smithtown, St. James and more will experience outages from 2 p.m. through 2 a.m. Sunday morning.
