The Week Ahead: Cancer Fundraiser, Defensive Driving, Civic Association

Now that it’s Monday again, let’s get down to business with some notable upcoming events in the greater Port Jefferson area.

1. Those who want to take a defensive driving course have two opportunities to do so this week:

• St. Charles Hospital is hosting a two-part course on Monday and Wednesday at 6 p.m.
• AARP has a class at 10 a.m. Monday at the Port Jefferson Free Library

2. In case anyone is interested in running for school board, note that petitions are due in to the district clerk by the end of the business day on Monday, April 22 in each local school district.
3. The Port Jefferson Station-Terryville Civic Association will meet on Tuesday at Comsewogue Library at 7 p.m.
4. The Brookhaven Town Board will meet at Town Hall on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
5. On Friday, head down to Danford’s in Port Jefferson at 5 p.m. for the 8th Annual Pancreatic Cancer Research Fundraiser, which will benefit the Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research.
