The Week Ahead: Dinner Deals, Village Board, Author Meet-and-Greet

Whether you're interested in local government, eating healthy, school affairs or other community happenings, there's something for you happening this week. Check out these ideas and others in our community event calendar.

1. The first Monday of each month is Mather Hospital's $5 meal promotion, which means you can enjoy a $5 meal in a healthy portion at popular restaurants around our area. Click here for more information.

2. On Monday, the Port Jefferson village board will hold a public meeting at 7 p.m. at Village Hall.

3. On Wednesday evening, head down to Z Pita to meet author R.J. Torbert, who recently published a book, The Face of Fear, that prominently features Port Jefferson.

4. The Comsewogue School Board will meet at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.

5. Those interested in learning more about and other planning issues can attend a seminar Thursday at the Port Jefferson Free Library at 7 p.m.
