This Day in History: Port Jeff Teachers Protest

On May 13, 2008 the Port Jeff Teacher's Association planned to picket the Board of Ed to try to end two years without a contract.

The New York State United Teachers organization's website reported in 2008 that the Port Jefferson Teachers Association had made plans to picket the board of education on May 13 to bring an end to an ongoing dispute.

Then president of Port Jefferson Teacher's Association Laurie McMillen said that there were "multiple unresolved issues" that needed to be resolved. According to the website, "the last contract for the local's 130 members expired in June 2006."
