Bikers will heads for Cedar Beach this Sunday to help raise funds for a 2012 Sachem East graduate battling cancer.

The Joey Andrechuk Bike-A-Thon Fundraiser is scheduled for this coming Sunday at 9 a.m. and will take participants from Corey Beach in Bayport to Cedar Beach in Mt. Sinai, all for a good cause.

Sachem East graduate Joey Andrechuk, a member of the Class of 2012, suffers from two Germinoma brain tumors he's currently receiving treatment for in Massachusetts. The fundraiser is intended to help defray some of the monthly expenses of Andrechuk's treatment.

According to organizers, sponsors are being asked for $20, while riders are being asked to pay a $10 riding fee. Anyone interested in participating in the Bike-A-Thon can contact Armando Rodriguez at (646) 329-4811 for more information.

Last March, Sachem Patch reported on an online fundraiser launched by Andrechuk's best friend Joseph Bruno. Bruno ran two marathons in Andrechuk's name, and the fundraiser, hosted on GiveForward.com raised more than $5,000 for the ailing Sachem alum.
