Help Lucas Blom Get To Haiti To Support Restavecs

Help Lucas raise $1700 to return to Haiti to help children in need.

Lucas Blom, a Quinnipiac University student, is hoping to spend time over in Haiti helping to provide much needed care and support to children who are restavecs (children who are sent by his or her parents to work for a host household as a domestic servant because the parents lack the resources required to support the child.). Blom is trying to raise $1700 and is almost there. Read his full story below from his GoFundMe page.

Hello, my name is Lucas Blom and I am currently attending Quinnipiac University as a Biomedical undergraduate. During spring break, a few students and I are traveling to Haiti in attempts to provide care and support to children who are restavecs. This term is used to describe children who were former slaves that now live with a host family. These children have endured an incredible amount of hardship that no one deserves. My intensions are to provide hope for these children and enforce to them that no dream of theirs is impossible. We intend to build a soccer field for these children to play on and we are also going to provide these children with musical instruments from the generous donations of the local schools here on Long Island. In particular, the interactions that we have with the children will be the most influential. This trip is something that I have always dreamed of doing. I believe that this will be a life changing experience, as well as an eye opener to the world around us. In order for me to accomplish this, I am reaching out to everyone for donations to help me afford this trip. With your help I know that this experience in Haiti will be that much more meaningful.
