Rentals Around Port Jeff From Upscale to Efficiency

A quick snapshot of the home rental scene in Port Jefferson.

With bank loans becoming harder to secure in the current economy, renting may be a viable avenue for many people.

Maria Palmar, an agent for Jolie Powell realty, sees the positives of renting.

"The rental market is strong," she said. "There's a lot of health in the rental market. You don't have a lot of the problems of home ownership in this economy. You also have the flexibility of moving more easily versus owning a home."

Here's a quick look at some of the houses available for rent in Port Jefferson:

  • If you're looking for more of an upper-scale rental this four bedroom, 2.5 bath contemporary home in Port Jefferson might be a good fit. With 5,000 square feet of space and views overlooking the harbor it carries a price tag of $4,500 a month. New appliances in the kitchen.
  • If a small cottage is more your style, here's a one bedroom, single bathroom unit. Located on Main Street in Port jefferson, for $1,600 a month it's a short walk to many of the features that make this town special.
  • For $3,000 a month you can live in a three bedroom, two-bathroom unit in the Riviera Community in Port Jefferson. It becomes available on Nov. 1 and includes a large back yard.
  • For $2,100 in Port Jefferson you can rent a 2 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom condo/town house with an added office. Comes with eat in kitchen and new appliances along with a washer/dryer and air conditioning. New carpets and a glass doors to the deck are added features.
  • A six bedroom farm ranch is available in Port Jefferson Station for $2,600. This unit has been renovated up to date and features three new bathrooms, new carpet, energy efficient appliances and plenty of storage.
  • An Aspen model in Sterling Woods is available to rent for $2,200. This two bedroom, 2.5 bathroom unit in Port Jefferson Station comes with a finished basment, patio, deck, and an added storage room.
  • For $2,100 a month you can have a five bedroom, two-bathroom split in Port Jefferson Station. Aside from plenty of bedrooms, this unit features a large driveway, new crapeting, and recently renovated roof and siding.
