The Greenway Trail in Port Jefferson Station

A Ground Breaking Ceremony and a Heart Breaking Plea for Justice.

Hooray!  Thank you for all your hard works...years and years in the making...our own Charlie McAteer-Port Jefferson Station -Terryville Civic Assoc Member, Assem. Steve Englebright, Congressman Tim Bishop, Councilman Steve Fiore Rosenfeld and Mark Lesko -Supervisor, rep. Kara Hahn, Senator Lavalle, the scouts and others!  This is a bi-partisan, mucho-multi governmental coordinated effort.

And thank you to the neighbor who courageously spoke directly to the  leaders of our community about the need to fund the battle against the violence and degradation of the community by the vagrant population stemming from the station area.  Thank you to Steve Englebright, the only leader to address her.  She no doubt has had little help in the past, as she recounted the terrible incidences that occured in the vicinity.  It is a chronic problem and she speaks for many of us.

It is hoped that the usage of the park and ride for access to the Greenway Trail, which connects to Setauket, will now be a direct point of protection by the police and State agencies- to rectify their dereliction of duties and the homeless population of Port Jefferson's station.
