Port Jefferson Pianist Places At County Competition

Winners will perform at Stony Brook University on June 6.

John F. Kennedy Middle School eighth grader Theo Marks won a third place prize at the Suffolk County Piano Teachers Foundation's March 17 competition held at at Faust Harrison Pianos in Huntington Station.

The competition divided students by their ages and proficiency levels.

While all the winners will receive their medals at Stony Brook University’s Staller Center Recital Hall on June 6, only the first place winners will also perform that day at the Honors Recital.

Elementary Division: 

First Place: Austin Choi, 2nd grade, Minnesauke Elementary School, East Setauket (March Macabre by M. Bober) 

Second Place: Alicia Heintzelman, 5th grade, Nassakeag Elementary School, East Setauket (Galloping Stallion by M. Bober) 

Third Place: Marina Divaris, 4th grade, St. Patrick School, Smithtown (Bohemian Dance by B. Bartok) 

Early Intermediate Division: 

First Place: (Tie) Cole Hempel, 6th grade, Westhampton Beach Middle School, Westhampton Beach (Chaconne by G. F. Handel); Sarah Wong, 4th grade, Smithtown Christian School, Smithtown (Tokyo Twilight, by M. Bober) 

Second Place: Sofia Stacchiola 4th grade, W.S. Mount Elementary School, Stony Brook (Doll’s Dream by T. Oesten) 

Third Place: Dorothy Pierre, 6rd grade, Smithtown Christian School, Smithtown (Soldiers on Parade by D. Kabalevsky) 


Late Intermediate Division:

Early Advanced Division:
