Port Jefferson Station Home Lays Foundation for Family's History

Original owner of Market Street returns to revisit the house.

A Port Jefferstion station house that served as a home for several generations of a local family, uniting them together.

Harold "Hal" Griffith, 87, the original owner of a Market Street home returned to view how the house and surrounding areas have changed over the years, Port Times Record reports.

When Griffith inherited the house from family in 1943, he had to add water and heating systems to the building. It had originally be built as a summer home, when Market Street was still a dead end.

Griffith lived there with his wife, Anne, during his career in the U.S. Navy through the birth of his first child, Susan.

During the weekend, Griffith toured the home, the property and other landmarks of his childhood - as well as answering the current owner's questions about her home.
