Dr. Jerome Feldstein, Co-Founder of Temple Beth Emeth in Mt. Sinai, Dies at 85

Dr. Jerome Feldstein, who co-founded Temple Beth Emeth in Mt. Sinai in 1986 and Temple Isaiah in Stony Brook in 1965, died Dec. 22 at the age of 85 after suffering from Alzheimer's disease.

According to an obituary published in Newsday, Feldstein was a Harvard graduate who received his medical degree from SUNY Downstate Medical Center. He worked as an internist at St. Charles Hospital and Mather Memorial Hospital in Port Jefferson from 1964 until his retirement in 1993.

His wife of almost 56 years, Vivian, told Newsday that her husband was a "Renaissance person" who was well respected in the community. "He was a gentleman and a gentle man with a fine sense of humor," she said.
