Bayview Terrace Roadway

Has anyone damaged their vehicle on Bayview Terrace in Port Jefferson Village - I made the mistake of turning onto that road and damaged the whole front undercarriage of my car and bumper.  I filed a small claims action against the town but they are claiming that they have never received notice of the defective roadway - which I find hard to believe and are refusing to pay out for the repair to my car. I saw the post where a street sweeper actually became stuck on the steep incline of Bayview Terrace.
