Merit-Based Recognition for Port Jefferson Seniors

Four Earl L. Vandermeulen High School students were named Commended Students in the 2014 National Merit Scholarship Program. Students Danielle Grier, Leah Neiman, Alberto Rescia and Kent Ueno are among the 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation who are being recognized for exceptional academic promise demonstrated by their performance on the qualifying test used for program entry. All four students placed among the top 5 percent of the more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2014 competition by taking the 2012 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
