Port Jefferson Announces Valedictorian and Salutatorian

Earl L. Vandermeulen High School has announced the Class of 2014 valedictorian and salutatorian. Danielle Alexa Grier and Kent Toshio Robert Ueno have earned the top two spots in their class, respectively, through their impressive, outstanding commitment to academics.

Valedictorian Danielle Grier has a weighted grade point average of 102.28 and will be attending Williams College in the fall, where she will major in history, specifically, anthropology/archaeology and the romance languages. During her time at Earl L. Vandermeulen, Danielle has been actively involved with the varsity soccer, softball and track teams. She is also a member of the National Honor Society, Science Olympiads, Mathletes, president of the Interact Club and an orchestra violinist.

Salutatorian Kent Ueno has a weighted grade point average of 101.45 and will be attending Dartmouth College to pursue a career in nuclear physics/chemistry. His expansive high school resume reflects his many talents ranging from academics to athletics. Kent has been a member of the baseball, soccer, tennis, track and wrestling teams. Additionally, he is involved with the Academic Team, jazz band, Mathletes, National Honor Society, Science Olympiads and is president of the Latin Club.
