Select Choir Brings Harmony To Memorial Service

Edna Louise Spear Elementary School music teacher Jessica Pastor led the school’s select choir in their performance of “The Star-Spangled Banner” and “God Bless the USA” at the Port Jefferson Fire Department’s annual 9/11 memorial service, held at the firehouse. Members of the Port Jefferson School District’s administration and Board of Education, as well as Sen. Kenneth LaValle, were in attendance for the somber yet unifying observance.

Former Port Jefferson Fire Department Chief Desmond O’Sullivan addressed attendees, specifically the youth, asking them to always remember what happened 12 years ago. “This is the story of ordinary people who responded to a great disaster in an extraordinary way,” said O’Sullivan. “It is an event that must never be forgotten.”
