Student Stars Shine at Talent Show

On Feb. 28, 13 of Port Jefferson Middle School’s shining stars performed at the annual talent show to benefit local organizations. Coordinated by middle school teacher Allison Giannusa, the show’s 14 acts wowed attendees with incredible displays of singing, dancing and instrument playing.

"I am so proud of all the hard work that the performers and stage crew put into making this a successful show,” said Giannusa. “Not only was it a terrific show, but it was great to be able to help out local charities.”

The event raised $900 for Friends of Karen, a nonprofit organization that works to provide emotional, financial and advocacy support for children with a life-threatening illness and their families. Additionally, boxes of collected canned goods will be donated to a local food pantry.

“When I began organizing the talent show nine years ago, I never could have imagined that it would be what it is today,” said Giannusa. “I am excited to see what next year’s show will bring.”
