After PJ Bank Robbed, Cops Investigating Pattern

Police pattern division is looking into a bank robbery in Stony Brook Village just days after a bank robbery in Port Jeff Village.

Suffolk County police on Tuesday night said its pattern division is investigating the earlier robbery of the Capital One bank on Main Street in Stony Brook, only days after the Chase Bank was robbed in Port Jefferson Village last Saturday.

According to police, the robbery was reported at 12:41 p.m. Tuesday after a man likely in his late-thirties to mid-forties walked into the 64 Main Street branch and demanded cash from the teller.

The man, described as white, 5-foot-8 inches to 5-foot-10 inches tall and balding fled on foot with an undisclosed sum. He was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and jeans.

The description of the robber is very similar to the man police said robbed the Chase Bank in Port Jefferson Village this past Friday. Police have described that man as being between 5 foot 8 and 5 foot 10 and roughly in his early to mid-forties. Photos of that man show him to be balding as well.

Police ask anyone with information to send tips to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
