Bagel Store Burglary, Landscaping Tool Thefts Reported

The Suffolk County Police Department responded to the following incidents in the greater Port Jefferson area between July 27 and Aug. 2.

• A manager at Ogden's Designs & Plantings in Port Jefferson Station reported that someone stole tools and equipment from a truck and a utility trailer parked in a rear parking lot. The thefts occurred sometime between 7 p.m. on July 26 and 7 a.m. on July 27.

• The management at Mt. Sinai Bagel on Route 347 in Mt. Sinai reported that someone smashed the glass front door, entered the eatery and stole cash from the register at approximately midnight on July 29.

• A man reported being assaulted by an acquaintance over the alleged theft of $5 from a mutual friend. The victim required medical attention at St. Charles Hospital for injuries to his face and elbow. The incident occurred on Morris Street in Port Jefferson at approximately 6:30 p.m. on July 28.

• A homeowner on Grasslands Circle in Mt. Sinai reported July 28 that someone pushed in a basement window, which then fell and broke, sometime between 12:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. on July 28. Nothing was reported stolen from the home.

• A man reported being punched in the face during a confrontation with two other men in the Bravo market shopping center in Port Jefferson Station at 8:45 p.m. on Aug. 2. Police could not say whether the victim sought medical attention.

• A resident of Cambridge Drive in Port Jefferson Station reported receiving about 100 hang-up phone calls from a specific phone number between noon on July 29 and 6 p.m. on July 31.

• A woman reported being pushed to the ground after a verbal argument with a man in a parking lot off of Main Street in Port Jefferson at around 2:45 p.m. on Aug. 1. Police could not say whether they were acquaintances or what the argument was about.
