Chase Bank Robbed in Heart of Port Jefferson Village

Cops say the man threatened harm someone inside unless the teller handed over cash.

The Chase bank branch in the middle of Port Jefferson village was robbed Thursday afternoon by a man who threatened to harm someone inside unless the teller handed over cash, Suffolk County Police said.

The man, described between 5 foot 8 and 5 foot 10 and roughly in his early to mid-forties, walked into the 120 Main St. bank at 1 p.m. and handed the teller the threatening note.

The teller gave the robber cash from their drawer, and then the man fled into the village.

Police are looking for any information that might help them find the robber, who was wearing jeans and a black shirt at the time of the robbery. Send tips to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
