Cops: Woman Robbed Near Smithtown Train Station

According to Suffolk County Police, a homeless man and a Port Jefferson woman stole a woman's purse near the Smithtown train station in late May.

A homeless man and a Port Jefferson woman were arrested on felony robbery charges following a May 24 incident during which police said they robbed a woman of jewelry and her purse.

According to police, a woman was walking behind Arthur Avenue, near the Smithtown Train Station, around 9:45 p.m. when Luke Guggino, 22, and Franchesca Guttierrez, 25, approached the woman and stole the necklaces hanging around her neck, as well as the purse she was carrying.

Both were later caught by police and arrested on charges of robbery in the second degree.

According to court records, Guttierrez pleaded guilty on June 1 to a misdemeanor assault charge. She was released on her own recognizance following her plea, records show.

Guggino pleaded not guilty to the robbery charges and remains in custody at Suffolk County Jail.

No, you wake up and stop listening to everything you hear. Everyone needs to stop thinking that the high schools are full of drugs because they aren't.

Yes, Smithtown HS~both East and West~ has a heroine problem. Everyone knows this...but it doesn't mean EVERY KID is doing it...they tried to bring it out of the shadows and into the light so people would wake up and become proactive about it...but it back fired. BUT this was not the original main topic of this thread...this was more about the towns issues as a whole. My kids have been going to school in this town for 15 years. We started out at St Pats, before we lived in district then 7 seven years ago made the switch when we moved here. We left Setauket because friends said "this town is the best and will never go down hill because have such a strong chamber of commerce and community"...WELLLLL, I guess they were wrong! We just recently noticed that bodega. WHEN DID IT MOVE IN? ...and who approved it?? The town is so depressing...I feel like all I see is bars and tattoo shops, and do we really need ANOTHER gym where the old waldbaum's used to be? Thats going to shut down snap fitness, Im sure...its all just so sad. The big question here is what are we going to do about it? We all know the problems, now its time to work on the solution! I love living and doing business in Smithtown and I want to see this town alive and filled with pride again!

It almost seems like that's the only thing people do lately is rob things, do drugs and eat other people. People need to start meditating or something along those lines. http://goo.gl/Rc7Yd
