Cops: East Moriches Man Arrested in Stony Brook Rape

Patrick O'Sullivan, 20, will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Dec. 2.

An East Moriches man was arrested Saturday for a sexual assault that took place Nov. 20 in Stony Brook.

According to Suffolk County Police, Patrick O'Sullivan, 20, was arrested on multiple charges including first-degree rape, first-degree burglary, first-degree criminal sexual act, second-degree kidnapping and first-degree criminal use of a firearm.

O'Sullivan is scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on Dec. 2.

Police said Friday afternoon that an armed, masked white man about 5-foot-10 with a medium build committed a sexual assault in a Stony Brook home between 11 and 11:30 p.m. The part of Stony Brook where the assault occurred was not stated.

No other similar assaults have occurred in the area, according to police, and Sixth Precinct Det. Lt. William Burke told Newsday that locals should not be concerned of a repeat attack.

"It's a different type of person that would do this as opposed to a burglary where they're going in, taking jewelry and leaving during the day, when nobody's home," said Sixth Precinct Det. Lt. William Burke.
