Cops: Masked, Armed Man Commits Sexual Assault in Stony Brook

Suffolk County Police are asking the public for information regarding the incident.

Police said on Friday afternoon that an armed, masked man committed a sexual assault in a Stony Brook home on Nov. 20.

According to police, the incident occurred between 11 and 11:30 p.m. though they did not release the particular part of Stony Brook where the assault occurred.

Police described the burglar as a white man, about 5-foot-10 with a medium build. The man was reportedly wearing dark clothing and a mask, and said he entered the home through an unlocked door and was armed with a rifle at the time of the incident.

Police said no other similar assaults have occurred in the area, and Sixth Precinct Det. Lt. William Burke told Newsday that locals should not be concerned of a repeat attack.

"It's a different type of person that would do this as opposed to a burglary where they're going in, taking jewelry and leaving during the day, when nobody's home," said Sixth Precinct Det. Lt. William Burke.

Word spread quickly over the Internet following the incident after an email was sent out to local residents alarming them of the event. Police did not immediately confirm nor deny the assault.

They are asking anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652 call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.

Victim yes, of course you want privacy kept. location we have a right to know! Like others said, we have children who walk this area to and from school for a WEEK after this happened! For the record I heard it was off of Mt. Grey. So to narrow it down further....
