Cops Scour Area for Hostile Drunk at La Paz

An eyewitness said six police cars were sent to the Main Street bar early Monday morning.

Suffolk County Police fled to the scene of La Paz restaurant early Monday morning in response to a drunk customer looking to start a fight, but were unable to locate the man upon arrival, according to police.

One local said he spotted six squad cars on scene around 3:40 a.m. Though a police spokesperson was unable to confirm the exact number of cars that responded, she noted that "an abundance of caution was likely taken, so considering the time of morning, we sent whoever was available in the area."

Police could not confirm if a weapon was reported to have been brandished in the incident, however several physical incidents have occurred La Paz over the past year requiring emergency response.

In March of last year, one man was charged with criminal obstruction of breathing and another charged with harassment during one incident at the bar. Two months later, a man was hospitalized after suffering head injuries during a 4:15 a.m. brawl. Two weeks later, a man reported getting a broken nose during a fight at La Paz.

The location also found itself in news headlines during a previous ownership as Bada Bing, when in 2007 a man was beaten to death there.
