Cops Seek Info on Port Jefferson Station Cell Phone Thief

The incident occurred July 27.

A woman was caught on camera on July 27 stealing an iPhone that had been left on the counter at a Port Jefferson Station store, and Crime Stoppers is seeking information on the woman who committed the crime.

According to police, a woman shopping at Dollar Tree left her cell phone on the counter after paying for her merchandise at approximately 7 p.m. When that customer returned to the store, the cell phone was missing, and surveillance footage showed another woman put the phone in her purse and left the store.

Police did not release a physical description of the thief except to say that she is Asian. 

Anyone with information on this crime is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS; all calls are kept confidential and a reward of up to $5,000 is offered for information that leads to an arrest.
