Coram Man Arrested For Stealing Boat Batteries in Mount Sinai

Derek Parian charged with seven counts of Petit Larceny and four counts of Criminal Mischief 4th Degree for stealing boat batteries.

The owner of All Island Marine, located at 466 Route 25A in Mount Sinai, informed the police that someone had been breaking into boats stored at the facility stealing batteries. 

The facility secures the boats using a white shrink-wrap material that is designed to protect the boats from the elements while not in use. After an investigation, officers said they arrested Derek Parian, 23, of Coram for the incident.

According to the report, Parian illegally entered numerous boats removing their batteries and bringing them to a local scrap yard. The scrap yard paid Parian $18 per battery.

Parian has been charged him with seven counts of Petit Larceny and four counts of Criminal Mischief 4th Degree. He will be held overnight at the Sixth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Friday.
