Crime Report: Resisting Arrest on Oakland Avenue

William Francis, 23, of Coram, was arrested on Oakland Avenue in Port Jefferson on Feb. 22 at 11:02 a.m. and charged with resisting arrest. According to police Francis attempted to break down the front door of a building and blocked the main entrance. Police advised him to move and he refused. Francis reportedly flailed his arms in order to avoided arrest.

Noel McPhail, 23, of Port Jefferson Station, was arrested on Old Town Road in Port Jefferson Station on Feb. 22 and charged with petit larceny. Police report that McPhail took a laptop from Syosset Road in Sound Beach on Feb. 18.

Catherine Toro, 22, of Mount Sinai, was arrested in Selden on Feb. 22 and charged with possessing a counterfeit bill. Toro was charged at Suffolk County Police Department’s sixth precinct for allegedly using counterfeit money to pay for gas at a Citco gas station in Selden.

John Wittmer, 40, of Port Jefferson Station, was arrested in Port Jefferson Station on Feb. 24 and charged with aggravated harassment. Police report that Wittmer made a harassing phone call to someone he knew.

Joseph Graney, 22, of Port Jefferson Station, was arrested in Port Jefferson Station on Feb. 25 at about 2:30 a.m. and charged with DWI. Police report that Graney was driving a 2009 Chevy south on Main Street in Port Jefferson Station when he pulled in front of a police car almost causing a collision at 2:07 a.m.
