Crime Report: Menacing With A Pocketknife

The following arrest information was supplied by the Suffolk County Police Department and does not indicate a conviction.

Thomas Scally, 36, of St. James, was arrested in Port Jefferson on March 29 and charged with DWI. Police report that Scally was driving south on Main Street and pulled over near Myrtle Avenue at about 12:30 p.m. for tailgating another vehicle.

Mark Meserve, 42, of Port Jefferson, was arrested in Farmingville on at 7:47 a.m. on March 29 and charged with DWAI for driving under the influence of both drugs and alcohol. Meserve allegedly crashed into a 2002 Dodge Caravan and fled the scene. A passing motorist then called 911 to say they saw Meserve driving recklessly. Police pulled him over heading south on Route 83.

Warren Smalls, 55, of Port Jefferson Station, was arrested in Port Jefferson Station at about 1:30 p.m. on March 27 and charged with menacing with a weapon. Police report that Smalls was having a verbal argument that escalated when he allegedly took swings at the other man with a folding pocketknife and threatened him.

John Ortiz, 47, of Port Jefferson Station, was arrested in Mount Sinai at around 8:20 p.m. on March 27 and charged with DWI. Police report that Ortiz was driving on Canal Road when he allegedly crashed into another vehicle near Mt. Sinai Ave.

Gregory Garabedian, 21, of Port Jefferson Station, was arrested in Selden at about 2:15 a.m. on March 25 and charged with criminal possession of a weapon. Garabedian was allegedly on Hawthorne Street in possession of a loaded handgun.

Timothy Hampton, 50, of Medford, was arrested in Port Jefferson Station on March 24 and charged with DWI. Police report that Hampton was pulled over at around 1:11 a.m. on Route 112 when he was seen swirving and did not signal when changing lanes.

Kjell Hanserud, 48, of Port Jefferson Station, was arrested in Port Jefferson Station at around 10:30 p.m. on March 24 and charged with assault. Police report that Hanserud knocked another man to the ground and punched and kicked him causing a swollen and bruised left eye.
