Crime Report: Pair From Wading River Allegedly Burglarize Belle Terre Home

The following arrest information was supplied by the Suffolk County Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Blas Mendez, 25, of Port Jefferson Station, was arrested on Dec. 9 at about 9 p.m. and charged with assault with the intent to cause physical injury with a weapon. Police say that Mendez was in a parking lot near Islandwide Transportation on Main Street in Port Jefferson when he allegedly cut another man in the forearm with a knife, sending him to St. Charles Hospital for stitches. The incident occurred around 1 a.m. on Dec. 1. According to court records, on Dec. 10, bond was set for Mendez at $5,000 but was not posted. A temporary order of protection was also issued. His next court date is Dec. 20.

Jonathan Head, 30, of Port Jefferson Station, was arrested on Dec. 11 and charged with two counts of burglary, both felonies and criminal trespassing, a misdemeanor. At about 1:50 p.m., Head allegedly went into a house on Timber Trail Lane in Medford through a rear sliding glass door and stole jewelry. He was arrested at 2:30 p.m. on the same day. Court records show his next court date is Dec. 20.

Sometime during the day on Dec. 11 a person smashed the rear window on a home in Port Jefferson and stole gold coins, Canadian gold coins, a diamond ring and an iPad, entered.

A man reported to police that on Route 112 at about 3 a.m. on Dec. 12 three unknown men punched him in face and stole cash. The man went to St. Charles. Hospital for his injuries. No arrests have been made.

Sometime between Noon and 3:40 p.m. on Dec. 12 someone broke a window on a back door into the basement of a home on Old Homestead Road in Port Jefferson and gained entry to the house by reaching through the broken window to open the door. Cash, a laptop and jewelry were stolen.

Anthony Librizzi, 23, and Alexa Vitacco, 21, both from Wading River, were arrested and charged with burglary, a violent felony. On Dec. 13 Librizzi and Vitacco allegedly kicked in the front door of a home on Hemlock Path in Belle Terre and stole a computer and jewelry. Librizzi was arrested in Centereach on Dec. 18 and Vitacco was arrested in Wading River on Dec. 13. According to court records, on Dec. 15 bail was set for Vitacco at $20,000 but was not posted. Her next court date is Dec. 19. No further information is available for Librizzi.

On Dec. 13 at about 10 a.m. someone kicked in the basement door of a house on Lost Meadow Lane in Belle Terre and stole jewelry.

Jonathan Vega, 25, of Port Jefferson Station, was arrested on Dec. 15 and charged with prohibited use of a weapon, a misdemeanor. Police report that at about 10:35 p.m. Vega was in the parking lot of an apartment complex on Sagamore Hills Drive where he lives when he allegedly fired a rifle into the air. He was arrested at about 10:46 p.m.
