Crimes Nearby: Cops Nab Alleged Bank Robber

SETAUKET

• Suffolk police arrested a Setauket man on Monday whom they said owned computers containing child pornography. Philip Nicolopoulos, 48, is charged with two counts of possession of a sexual performance by a child, a felony.

Police said he lives on Branch Lane, a block approximately half a mile from Arrowhead Elementary School in East Setauket. Computer crimes detectives executed a search warrant at his home on Friday, allegedly discovering a computer and external hard drives containing pornographic videos of children. Nicolopoulos turned himself in to police at the Sixth Precinct in Selden on Monday.

COMMACK

An employee of Radio Shack was arrested last Wednesday for reportedly stealing cell phones.

Police said Carlos Argueta, 23, of Brentwood stole cell phones from the Radio Shack in Commack, by opening up multiple fraudulent accounts and then kept the accompanying free cell phone.

Police charged Argueta with felony third-degree grand larceny. According to court records, Argueta appeared at First District Court where bail was set at $20,000 bond or $10,000 cash. Records show Argueta was unable to make bail.

HAUPPAUGE

• William McClurkin, 30, of Medford, was arrested in Hauppauge on a charge of third-degree grand larceny, a felony. McClurkin allegedly robbed several Bank of America locations between July 12 and July 18 of last year.

SMITHTOWN

• A 17-year-old Smithtown boy was arrested on Jan. 28 in Smithtown on a second-degree aggravated harassment charge, a misdemeanor. Reports state the boy texted threats to another man from his cell phone.

• Anthony Licausi, 27, of Farmingville, was arrested on Jan. 31 in Nesconset on a charge of third-degree grand larceny, a felony, and a charge of resisting arrest, a misdemeanor. Reports state at roughly 12 a.m. Licausi stole property of an unidentified person. The reports also state at 1:10 p.m. Licausi resisted arrest by pushing away from police officers to avoid being handcuffed.

ROCKY POINT

• Richard Arpen, 28, of Rocky Point, was arrested Feb. 1 in Riverhead and charged with third-degree criminal possession of stolen property with a value greater than $3,000, a felony. Arpen was found to be in possession of a stolen vehicle in Holbrook and was arrested at the police station in Riverhead, according to police.
