Crimes Nearby: Stores Robbed in Three Village

Stony Brook

Jonathan Hammel, 21, of Shoreham, was arrested Feb. 25 at and charged with first-offense DWI after driving off North Country Road and crashing into a tree.

James Martinez, 36, of Coram, was arrested Feb. 28 in Stony Brook and charged with petty larceny. According to police, Martinez stole sockets and ratchets from in Stony Brook.

East Setauket

Alexandria Randall, 22, of Lake Ronkonkoma, was arrested Feb. 24 in Setauket and charged with petty larceny. According to police, Randall stole clothing and makeup from in Setauket.

St. James

A 16-year-old St. James boy was arrested in St. James on March 1 on petit larceny charges. Reports state the boy was arrested on School Street in for stealing an iPhone.

Daniel Christie, 28, of St. James, was arrested in St. James on Feb. 26 at 11:54 p.m. on charges of DWI. Reports state Christie was driving a 2006 Nissan Sentra when he crashed into a parked vehicle.

Kamil Kosek, 25, of St. James, was arrested in St. James on Feb. 27 at 9:30 p.m. on charges of possession of a hypodermic instrument and unlawful possession of marijuana. Reports state Kosek was arrested on Lake Avenue for being in possession of two hypodermic needles and marijuana.

Miller Place

William Quaglia, 54, of Miller Place, was arrested Feb. 24 and charged with first-offense DWI. Quaglia was allegedly operating his car in an unsafe manner while under the influence of alcohol on Radio Avenue in Miller Place.

Riverhead

A yielded three marijuana-related arrests at a home on Lake Avenue. A 55-year-old and 29-year-old, both of Riverside, were charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation. Jose Maysonet, 46, was charged with one count of criminal possession of a controlled substance, seventh degree and criminal use of drug paraphernalia, both misdemeanors.

A Flanders woman was after police said she was driving drunk with a five-year-old in the car.
According to police reports, Christiene Dacosta was driving southbound on Route 24, near the intersection of Long Neck Boulevard, when she was stopped around 3:45 a.m. Police said she failed to maintain her lane of travel.
According to police, it was determined that Dacosta was driving under the influence of alcohol, while her five-year-old son was in the car.
