Crimes Nearby: Man Allegedly Returns Stolen Items to Smith Haven Mall

Smithtown

Barry Goldberg, 51, of Nesconset, was arrested in Smithtown on June 9 at 11:49 p.m. on first degree criminal contempt charges. Reports state Goldberg made threats to harm a man.

Scott Nichols, 37, of Central Islip, was arrested in Smithtown on June 3 at 8:30 a.m. on petit larceny charges. Reports state Nichols was arrested for an incident at Sears in the Smith Haven Mall on Mar. 17 for knowingly attempting to return stolen merchandise.

St. James

Kathleen Dibernardo, 45, of St. James, was arrested in St. James on June 8 on second degree aggravated harassment charges. Reports state Dibernardo called the resident at Clover Lane several times after being asked not to and made threats.

East Setauket

Suffolk County police have arrested a man they say was driving while ability impaired by drugs with two prior arrests within the last 10 years. Thomas Connolly, 41, of East Setauket, was arrested May 29 at 9 p.m. in Sound Beach. Police stopped him after he allegedly failed to maintain his lane of travel while driving eastbound on Lower Rocky Point Road. Connolly is charged with second-degree DWAI drugs, with two prior arrests. Police also charged him with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, saying Connolly illegally had the drug Suboxone, an opioid drug used to treat opiate addiction. Police later found a hypodermic needle in his possession and charged him with possession of a hypodermic instrument. Connolly is set to appear in court June 20.

Shoreham

Rachel Morgan, 25, of Shoreham, was arrested June 8 in Ridge and charged with illegal operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs and unlawful possession of marijuana. Morgan was stopped for excessive front window tints when the officer smelled a heavy odor of marijuana coming from the inside of the vehicle. Police said that she appeared to be under the influence of drugs.

Peter Vescovo, 36, of Shoreham, was arrested June 1 in Brookhaven and charged with fourth degree computer tampering. Vescovo was arrested at the Seventh Precinct station for allegedly altering computer data by deleting email and address book records from three separate computers not belonging to him.

Rocky Point

William Sarubbi, 25, of Rocky Point, was arrested June 2 in Shirley and charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Sarubbi was arrested on Grand Avenue in Shirley for illegal possession of heroin and a hypodermic needle, Police said.

Riverhead

Over 40 Riverhead school buses were broken into and vandalized on Thursday night. According to Riverhead School Superintendent Nancy Carney, several individuals broke into the buses and allegedly discharged fire extinguishers, painted graffiti, and damaged electrical and mechanical systems. Riverhead Town police responded to the report of multiple criminal mischiefs and larcenies and arrested Terrance Pertillar, 19, of Riverhead and a 17 year old male from Riverhead. Later on Friday, Sergio Gonzalez, 18, of Riverhead, was also arrested. All were charged with criminal mischief in the second degree, criminal trespass, and petit larceny.
