Crimes Nearby: Nearly $2K Charged by Bogus Firm to Riverhead Woman's Credit Card

Police are investigating an incident of fourth-degree criminal mischief in which someone smashed the front passenger-side window of a 2010 Chevrolet Malibu parked in a lot at Ward Melville High School. The incident, reported Oct. 10, happened sometime between 5:15 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Kimberly Oquendo, 21, of Bay Shore, was arrested in Smithtown on Oct. 10 on third degree grand larceny charges, a felony. Reports state Oquendo stole a night deposit bag with cash in it.
Danielle Macias, 36, of Ridge, was arrested in Smithtown on Oct. 8 on fourth degree grand larceny of property valued greater than $1,000 charges, a felony. Reports state Macias stole a gold and diamond bracelet.

A Flanders woman complained to police Oct. 14 that $1,935.39 was charged to her credit card by a Pennsylvania law firm that apparently doesn’t exist. Investigators advised the woman to change her credit card information in order to avoid further charges and are looking into the matter.
