A 32-year-old Ronkonkoma man was sentenced Monday to 5 and a half years to 16 and a half years in prison for the death of a West Islip five-year-old who was killed in a car accident on Dec. 10, 2011, according to a Newsday report. The sentencing was the result of a plea deal for aggravated vehicular manslaughter worked out in October, according to the report.

Bayport Man Facing DWI Charge in Sayville House Crash

A Bayport man arrested early Saturday morning after his car veered off Broadway Avenue in Sayville and clipped a house is facing a DWI charge and was released on his own recognizance Sunday, according to a state crime database.

A robbery took place at TD Bank in Lake Grove Monday. Detectives from the pattern crime unit are investigating. According to police a man entered the bank, located at 2822 Middle Country Road, and handed a note to a teller demanding cash, which the teller gave him. The man then fled on foot and was seen heading west on Middle Country Road.

Port Jefferson Station HSBC Bank Robbed Tuesday Afternoon

Police have arrested Rocky Point man and charged him with attempted robbery of the bank as police say the man fled before the teller could comply with his demand for cash. Read the full story here.

Update from the scene:

Police on the scene confirmed that the incident took place a little after 2 p.m. and that there were three detectives currently working inside of the bank collecting evidence. The officers also confirmed that the bank would remain closed until the investigation was completed, but said they were unsure how long that would be.

Farmingville Man Appealing Murder Conviction of Hampton Bays Resident

A Farmingville man previously convicted of killing a Hampton Bays man in 2010 is currently appealing his case with his attorneys saying he did not get a fair trial. Anthony Oddone, 30 of Farmingville, was sentenced to 22 years in 2010 after being convicted of killing Andrew Reister during an altercation at the Southampton Publick House where Reister worked as a bouncer.
