Crimes Nearby: Teen Arrested in Bagel Cafe Burglary

COMMACK

An East Northport woman was arrested Saturday afternoon after she left her two young children locked in a hot car, according to Suffolk County police.

Maria Luongo-Devivo, 49, of East Northport, was charged with two counts of child endangerment after she left her two sons, ages 1 and 5, locked in a car in the parking lot of Meat Farms supermarket in Commack.An East Northport woman was arrested Saturday afternoon after she left her two young children locked in a hot car, according to Suffolk County police.

A passerby noticed the children in the car with the windows closed around 3 p.m. and alerted a store employee who called the police.

When police arrived, Luongo-Devivo had returned to her car and, they said, her sons were both sweating profusely and their faces were flushed. Police said the children were in the car without proper ventilation for six minutes.

The children were checked for health issues at the scene, but did not need further medical attention, police said. The family’s neighbor picked them up, and police notified Child Protective Services.

Luongo-Devivo was released on bail and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on August 1.

SMITHTOWN

Police said they found the man who burglarized a Nesconset Bagel Store last week.   

According to police, Mantas Lukosevicius, 17, broke through the side door of the Bagel Café, located at 248 Smithtown Blvd. on May 27 at approximately 12:30 a.m.

He forced open the office door and stole a large amount of cash, police said. According to police security camera footage showed Lukosevicius then fled on a small purple mountain bike, wearing a black coat, black gloves and a black backpack with a wooden handle sticking out of the backpack.    

Lukosevicius was a part-time employee at the bagel store and was familiar with where cash was kept, police said. Fourth Squad detectives arrested Lukosevicius on a charge of third-degree burglary, a felony, at his Ronkonkoma home Monday at 11:55 p.m. 

PORT JEFFERSON

Police arrested an 18-year-old they said was not only driving with a suspended license, but with felony-weight cocaine. Jamel Worlds, of Port Jefferson Station, was arrested after a traffic stop on Suffolk Avenue, near Wheeler Road, in Central Islip on May 28 at about 11  p.m. He was charged fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony, and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor.

MILLER PLACE

Police arrested a trio they said ransacked a house in Rocky Point, stealing electronics and other items.

Brittany Erdogan, 19, William Erdogan, 22, and Deanna Ermilio, 19, all of whom live in Rocky Point, were charged with second-degree burglary, a felony.

The three allegedly entered the house on Quail Road in Rocky Point through an unlocked side window.
