Updated: Driver Stabbed, Taxicab Stolen in Port Jefferson Station

After crashing cab early Saturday morning, robber fled the scene.

Update: On Saturday at about 3 a.m., a cab driver was stabbed during a robbery on Clifton Place in Port Jefferson Station.

A report states that the cab driver was called to pick up a fare on Clifton Place by an unknown man. The driver fled his taxicab after the man stabbed him in the back of the neck. The man then stole the taxicab and crashed it on Gaymore Road, fleeing on foot, according to a police report.

The driver of the cab had been identified as a Port Jefferson resident by someone who had heard about the incident but did not want to give a name when talking about the details. The driver was transported to Stony brook Hospital. His condition is unknown at this time. The taxi was described as a having a blue color.

A person who Patch spoke with at El Coyote Cab Company located on Cherub Lane in Port Jefferson Station identified the cab company involved in the incident as El Amigo based in Selden. The company is said to cater to Spanish-speaking customers. No listing or contact information is available for El Amigo as of yet.

Police brought in K-9 units and Emergency Services to assist in the search. No arrests have been made as of this time.

On Sunday afternoon, employees at Islandwide Taxi in Port Jefferson said that the cab involved in the robbery was not one of theirs and that they also hadn’t heard about the incident.

Brentwood / Central Islip = PJS / Uptown In the summer is when the most crime occurs. But this town has turned into a full fledged ghetto.

I was actually referring to us having two local cab companies starting with "El" one of which having a name that references a person who helps people illegally cross the border.

Until recently I was seriously considering moving to this area. It was so nice forty years ago when I was last out there. But now I see this place has turned into the Bronx. I'll move somewhere else where life is nicer.
