Incident Report: Shattered Windows, Street Fights & More

The Suffolk County Police Department reported the following incidents between May 19 and May 25.

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF

A resident of Vineyard Way in Mt. Sinai reported seeing an unknown male drive up to his property, damage his white PVC fence and then drive away at 12:30 a.m. on May 25.

A resident of Hartwell Drive in Mt. Sinai reported the rear window of his car, a 2005 Nissan Altima parked in front of the house, was shattered sometime between May 19 at 10:30 p.m. and May 20 at 7 a.m.

A resident of Brewster Drive in Port Jefferson reported May 25 that someone had knocked over and crushed the home's metal mailbox.

The owner of a vehicle that was parked on East Main Street in Port Jefferson reported May 20 that someone had shattered the windshield of the vehicle, a 2002 Subaru Outback, sometime between May 18 at 10 p.m. and May 19 at 9 a.m.

ASSAULT

A man reported being accosted by a group of four other men on North Country Road in Port Jefferson at 3 a.m. on May 19 after having had a heated exchange with a woman while crossing the street. The victim was taken to Mather Hospital for treatment. 

In a separate incident on the same day, a patron who was leaving Tommy's Place reported that he was the victim of an assault on the street in front of the restaurant on May 19. He observed a person being beaten up in the street at approximately 3:20 a.m. and when he went to intervene, was assaulted himself. It is not known whether medical treatment was sought.

BURGLARY

The occupant of a building on Union Street in Port Jefferson Station reported May 21 that someone broke the rear window of the building and took a drill sometime between May 19 and May 21. It is not known whether the location was a residential or commercial building.
