Man Arrested For Disorderly Conduct at Center of Controversy

Residency of sex offender in Port Jefferson questioned at village meetings.

Julio Aguilar, 55, of Port Jefferson Station, was arrested after he was asked to leave on March 30 but then returned to the bar and allegedly threatened somebody. Police said that he was charged with disorderly conduct. Aguilar is also registered as a sex offender according to the New York State database.

At a February Village Board of Trustee meeting, residents had called into question the fact that Aguilar listed his mailing address as 1 Stony Hill Road in Port Jefferson, a home owned by .

A representative for Hope House told residents who called the office that there was no Julio Aguilar living in any Hope House facility and he was not listed at the address.

Calls to Hope House by Patch were not returned but a receptionist confirmed that Aguilar was not listed as a resident and that Hope House does not house sex offenders.
