Police: Man Wanted for Grand Larceny in Port Jefferson Station

Accused criminal made unauthorized purchases at 7-Eleven, Speedy Mart, CVS, and a Sunoco gas station.

An unidentified white male is accused of stealing a man’s wallet from an unlocked vehicle parked outside a Centereach home and then making purchases in stores in Port Jefferson Station, according to police.

At some point between 5 p.m. on Sept. 2 and 7:30 a.m. on Sept. 3 the alleged burglar went into the center console of the vehicle parked outside a Centereach home and took the wallet. Police say that later, the credit card company notified the owner that someone had used his credit card to make unauthorized purchases at 7-Eleven, Speedy Mart, CVS, and a Sunoco gas station in Port Jefferson Station.

Surveillance camera photos were taken of the alleged criminal at one of the stores and were made available by police.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-220-TIPS.  All calls will be kept confidential. Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
