Police: Pair Allegedly Stole Copper Pipe From Abandoned Home

Port Jeff Station home was abandoned, according to police.

An opportunistic pair of alleged burglars were nabbed by police just after noon on Jan. 25 after concerned neighbors called cops when they saw a suspicious vehicle in the area.

Vanessa Schultz, 37, of Coram, and Brandon Shultz, 40, of Selden, were charged with third-degree burglary, a felony, and accused by police of stealing copper piping from an abandoned residence on Clinton Avenue in Port Jefferson Station. They were caught less an hour after the alleged crime occurred.

Police did not know if they were related.

Vanessa Schultz was in court on Jan. 26 where bail was set at $5,000 but was not posted, according to court records. She was due back in court on Jan. 28. Brandon Shultz is due in court on Jan. 28 but no other information is available.
