Police: Little Mermaid Missing From Thomas Kinkade

The following arrest information was supplied by the Suffolk County Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

John Cook, 22, of Port Jefferson Station, was arrested at Independence Plaza in Selden on Aug. 5 at about 3:15 p.m. and charged with possession of a hypodermic instrument. Cook was originally pulled over at 10:46 a.m. by police while driving a 1998 Honda. Court records say that Cook was given a desk appearance ticket and is due back in court on Oct. 3.

Someone at in Port Jefferson reported to police that a wallet was stolen from an unlocked drawer on Aug. 6 at 9 a.m.

Melanie Wersan, 20, of Mount Sinai, was arrested on Montauk Highway in Shirley on Aug. 7 at about 3:15 p.m. and charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, possession of a hypodermic instrument and intent to sell drugs. According to court records, Wersan’s bail was set at $5,000 on Aug. 8 but was not posted. She was back in court on Aug. 13 and released on recognizance. Wersan is due back in court next on Sept. 10.

Someone called police on Aug. 8 at 8:15 a.m. to report that someone punched his driver’s side rear fender during a road rage incident at Chestnut Street in Mount Sinai.

An employee at the on Main Street in Port Jefferson reported to police that a "Little Mermaid" painting in a cherry frame was taken from the front of the gallery on Aug. 9 at 10 a.m.

Christopher Perosi, 45, of Port Jefferson Station, was arrested on Cherub Lane and Route 112 in Port Jefferson Station on Aug. 10 at about 11:17 p.m. and charged with criminal mischief, a misdemeanor. Perosi allegedly struck the front door of the on Route 112 and shattered the glass. According to court records, Perosi went before a judge on Aug. 11 and bail was set at $500 but was not posted. He is due back in court on Aug. 14.
